First Simple Woman’s Daybook post

Outside my Window …
There is snow on the ground and a gray sky; it looks like more snow.  It has been so cold out the last few weeks, but we aren’t complaining because we have had a very mild fall and winter this far.

I am thinking…
I’m so excited my husband surprised us & came home early from work travel for the weekend.  I need to finish this up so I can get in a workout before baby wakes.  I am starving, but my coffee is good and I don’t want to make anything for my breakfast.

I am thankful…
For a warm home, sweet babies that love Jesus, and my handsome husband (who has his whiskers grown out for me, and I LOVE IT!)

In the kitchen…
There is a dishwasher full of clean dishes (usually emptied first thing in the morning), 25 POUNDS of organic carrots (what was I thinking?!), 20 pounds of organic apples (yum!), and a jar of my friend’s kraut fermenting on the counter (another YUM!).

I am wearing…
A flannel granny nightgown.  Literally.  It is a nightgown like Grannies wear, and my Granny bought it for me, and I am pretty sure said Granny has the same one.  =)

I am creating…
I am working on knitting a scarf, sewing some dresses for my daughter, and contemplating making some more pajama pants for my son.

I am going…
To stay in my gown all day, cook a roast with veggies, and drink some more coffee.

I am wondering…
Why the baby keeps fussing, but goes back to sleep. Maybe because she didn’t eat well this morning.  Hrm.

I am reading…
Honey for a Child’s Heart– a dear friend brought it over the other day and it is great.
A Mom After God’s Own Heart Devotional– a devotional to get me through these hard days of little people emotions and tantrums =)
The Power of a Positive Mom
Simplicity Parenting: Using the Extraordinary Power of Less to Raise Calmer, Happier, and More Secure Kids

I am hoping…
Ila will sleep good for her naps today (we are adjusting to a 4 hour schedule; some days are perfect, some not so much).

I am looking forward to…
This weekend with our family. Losing all this baby weight (technically from my second child) so I can get back to feeling like ME again.  And also tomorrow’s episode of Downton Abbey.  I don’t watch much t.v. but I do love some Downton.

I am learning…
How to heal my diastasis recti. I just started using Fit2B (a website that specifically focuses on healing DR and strengthening the core-not the abs- and I love it so far).

Around the house…
Things are relatively picked up, but dusty. I don’t like dusting.

I am pondering…
Why smoke keeps bees calm? (it is on Ask This Old House) That is strange .. and who discovered smoke keeps them from going crazy? hmm …  More Google.

A favorite quote for today…
{Never Explain Anything}
One of my favorite things…
Mary Poppins.  I love Mary Poppins the movie, the songs, the characters in the movie.  And I love even more that my 2 year old son can do all the steps to Stepping Time, including jumping off the bench and going straight into a forward roll like Bert on the roof tops.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Do a little sewing, write a few blog posts, get all my workouts in, JUST SAY NO TO SUGAR.  Stick to our homeschool schedule.

A peek into my day…
My babies snuggling their daddy, watching “working shows” on PBS (Woodwright’s Workshop, This old House, P. Allen Smith, Martha Cooks, America’s Test Kitchen, etc.) It is our winter Saturday routine.
