Like many parents today, I am very particular about the shows my children watch. I was so thankful we had a chance to review Owlegories: The Ant, The Fruit, The Butterfly by FishFlix.com. We received a physical DVD and though it is not rated, it was very much appropriate for my 3 year old and 5 year old.

About Owlegories (Volume 2) & What We Thought
This is a wonderful family DVD; unlike most programs today, there is nothing to worry about in terms of language, or other topics parents have to be mindful of their children watching. It is what I call a safe show. =)
This Owlegories DVD is part of an animated children’s series that teaches about God and the world created by God through nature lessons. The DVD includes 3 Biblical lessons: The Ant, where the students learn to work together and obedience, The Fruit, where they learn about the fruits of the Spirit, and The Butterfly, where they learn that when we are saved in Jesus, we are new like the butterfly.
In each lesson children also learn about nature and science; there is an adult that comes on screen to explain the lesson a little further and how it applies in our lives. The DVD is full of silly and catchy songs, fun and lively characters, and good values based on Biblical truths. My children really enjoyed it and it often led to deeper discussion and questioning on their part. The characters never said or did anything that was disrespectful or inappropriate that I might need to worry about my children imitating. The run time for the entire video is 34 minutes, which is perfect for our family because on the days we turn the tv on, 30 minutes is usually our limit. It is a really great addition to our collection!
I will add that my 5 year old daughter is very sensitive; we’ve tried watching many, many shows that most families would consider safe, and she asked me to turn them off. I 100% believe in nurturing her gut instinct that if something bothers her she should not do it/follow it/watch it. In Owlegories, there is a “villain” character (Devlin) that my 3 year old son thought was rather funny and goofy; but the character bothered my daughter. So, if you have a very sensitive child you may keep that in mind- my son wasn’t bothered by it at all and there is not a large emphasis on the villain character.

They are really a one stop shop for family friendly, Christian films; offering everything from children’s and family shows, to Biblical theology films and even love and romance DVDs. There is an extensive Bargain category, as well as holiday films.
As I was looking over their selection, I was thinking that some of these films would make great gifts- not just for our children, friends, and grandchildren- but for instance, when a family has a new baby, one of the films from FishFlix.com would make a great gift for the older children (and would offer mom a little bit of a break after having another baby!)

This sounds like a great DVD for small children. I love your idea of getting a DVD from FishFlix.com to give as a gift for older siblings when a new baby is born!
It was wonderful for our children! Even the toddler laughed and danced during the songs. =)
