Well, when the couple was here looking at my car, I was making that great dinner recipe I have mentioned before, Chicken Noodle Hold the Soup.  So I had my rotisserie chicken out and was getting all the good, lean white meat off of it.  I finished up and decided to wash my hands and go outside with J.Tom and the people looking at my car..  I cleaned up my mess, for the most part and ran outside…. but stupid me left the container with the chicken, the whole chicken minus the legs, on the counter.  And I forgot about Scarlet.

When we came back inside, there was the tray on the floor, spices from the chicken skin on the floor, and NO sign what so ever of the chicken itself.  I was devastated, that is after I had J.Tom spank her (which I feel guilty for now).  We know chicken bones (cooked) are dangerous to dogs because they splinter so easily and can cause problems internally, so I googled what to do.  Most everything said to over feed her dog food, so it could cushion the intestines and prevent punctures or the bones becoming lodged.  So we did-we fed her a LOT of dog food.

Naturally she was bloated and had stinky, stinky tummy problems for about 12 hours and then the “storm” hit.  Now it is diarrhea (which can be expected after eating all the fat she ingested).. and no sign of chicken bones.  =/  THEN, as if things couldn’t get more freaking nerve racking, there is some bright red blood involved.  Not much, at all.. but still some bright red blood-which apparently means it has all passed through her stomach and small intestines (or it would be black and tarry) but is possibly causing problems in the large intestines or rectum… LOVELY.

Now I may be a dog killer!  =(  She is acting fine and being her same ole rambunctious self, so that is definitely a good sign.  Plus it has been 36 hours and she is still doing good.  I read that the blood can be from some punctures or scrapes but that they can heal pretty easily.  She doesn’t cry or growl when I press on her tummy or lower abdomen, so we can pray she will be okay.  But I just don’t know.  I feel pretty terrible, especially since she is J.Tom’s (baby) dog of  like 8 or 9 years… He says it is no one’s fault if she dies.  But I am hoping that is not the case.  Everything says to just watch her for a few days.  I am just confused because there is some blood, but she is her crazy self, still!  And yes, if she is not better she will go to the vet Monday, but as of right now there is nothing they could do anyways.
