I had a chance to review Echoes of an Angel: The Miraculous True Story of a Boy Who Lost His Eyes but Could Still See, by Aquanetta Gordon through Tyndale Publishing.

This is a biographical story of a boy, written by his mother, who loses his eyesight due to cancer at the young age of two.  Instead of living in darkness, Ben Underwood starts using echolocation- clicking- to learn about the world that most people thought he would never live in.

He goes on to live an extraordinary life, full of movement and experiences some of us with sight may never experience.  He didn’t let anything stand in his way, and led his life by faith in God, not by sight (or even echolocation …).

Born into hardships, but loved greatly by his family, Ben was able to not only experience a “full” life, but offer great encouragement to others as a child and young man.  This is a beautiful book, based on an amazing life story.  If you enjoy memoirs or biographies and get a chance to read it, I would recommend this book.
