Summer is half way through!

Wow! How is it we are already past July 4th?! It seems like our summer is just now beginning, and it is really half way over. I haven’t been good about writing lately, we have been traveling and had a lot of company the last month. My mom was here for two weeks and then we drove to AR and TN to see family. Thankfully the kids were wonderful on our “long trip,” as Mister called it. Before we left we said good bye to our dear old Mama Bear- Scarlet. She saw a beautiful 13.5 years and was a national traveler. Not to mention she was famous in Hot Springs. Lexie took the news pretty well, and told J.Tom “No, daddy. She didn’t go to doggy heaven, really. She will be in my heaven when I get there!” =) Sweet girl. traveling to AR.jpg I have been gradually cooking extra meals for the freezer to prepare for baby. And since I am down to my last 10 weeks of pregnancy and J.Tom will be home (most of) the rest of the summer, I am going to start walking every night. The days of simply walking with both the kids are mostly behind me at this point- Lexie is so heavy in the double jogger and not quite big enough to ride her bike as far as I need to walk for exercise. We do walk to the park several mornings during the week, and then take “the long way” back home-she walks and Mister rides. But I need to get in shape for labor, so walking at night when it is cooler will be good. I am also getting back to my weight lifting workouts and some prental yoga- ooooh I love yoga during my pregnancies. I’ve even been doing some research into qualifying as a yoga instructor one day after the baby comes. SiddhiYoga.com offer a selection of different yoga teacher training courses throughout the year if you would like to learn more too. We are working on getting quotes for painting the bedrooms- we technically have 9 Saturdays between now and baby arriving, (NINE!!! aaaah) and just not sure J.Tom can get them painted and everything else on his to-do list done. I am getting excited about baby! Just not knowing if we will have a boy or girl join us (or a “turkey or bear” as Lexie would say) is exciting enough, but another baby in the house is going to be an adventure! This summer we are spending our days at the zoo, in the backyard playing in the water, walking to the park, going to the pool after naps, and reading. I want to take the rest of the summer to just be with my babies and enjoy them. I can’t believe Lexie will be FOUR and Max already TWO in September. =*( It is just happening so quickly. I feel like the last few weeks I have lost my cool with them way too much, and have just been stressed out. Now that we are back from our travels, we are taking it easy and enjoying each other all summer long! Here are a few random photos from our travels. I actually forgot my camera =( So I didn’t get many good pictures. My phone is really old, SLOW, and just doesn’t take good pictures. Most of these I snapped with J.Tom’s phone and then sent to myself. I wish I had taken more!

Ultimate Homemaking Bundle – Almost Here!

There is one more day left before the Ultimate Homemaking eBook Bundle is live for purchase!

I had a chance this past week to review a few of the ebooks in this bundle- you will not be disappointed!  You may not use every. single. eBook in the bundle, but just the value of the eBooks you will use, will add up to way more than the $29.95.

And one of my favorite parts?
  I cannot reveal what the bonuses are yet.  However, judging by the bonuses last year, that I did buy, I can tell you they aren’t those “junky” type of bonuses that you would never use or redeem.  They are most definitely great values of wonderful products and services.

Last year, I got 4 tubes of all natural chap stick that I am still using (and I am a religious chapstick user) for $2.80 with shipping.  Some of the bonuses you just pay shipping, and it isn’t the $15 rip-you-off shipping, just good ole standard shipping, after you get the product for free.  I was also able to try products that I had read so much about and wanted to try for a long time, at great discounts (or free).

So, on top of the blessings you will get from the eBooks in this bundle, you and your family will also benefit greatly from the bonuses included!

Keep in mind:

  • All your eBooks must all be downloaded by August 1st.
  • All bonuses must be redeemed by May 28th.
  • The sale only last 6 days, so budget accordingly and get ready!
  • There is a 15-day refund window if you are not completely satisfied (but you will be, so no worries!)

get ready for tomorrow because I will not only share more in-depth info on what to expect in the bundle and bonuses, but you can order your bundle!  See you at 8am!

Last year I purchased the Ultimate Homemaking eBook Bundle– I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this!  As a matter of fact, I am still enjoying the bundle from last year- I refer back to books for ideas, recipes, and how-tos, gift ideas, and organization tips.  There were some truly amazing books in last year’s bundle, and from the looks of things, this bundle is going to be even better!

There will be two types of bundles to purchase- either Kindle files, or PDF files.  So there is something for everyone, no matter what you use to read (or if you’d like to print them as you read them!).

The sale begins Wednesday, April 23rd at 8am–April 28 @ 11:59pm (all times EST).

I will be able to share more details with you then- like what books are included, what bloggers and authors are included, etc.  But topics for the bundle eBooks include:

Healthy Smoothies With Dairy Alternatives {with Menu Monday Link Up}

In our home- we love smoothies. We have them as part of our breakfast, for snacks, and my kids’ favorite-popsicles! Smoothie cartons had always been a staple on my shopping list for as long as I can remember, however, I recently realised that making your own smoothies is much more cost efficient than buying them, so now I always try to find time each week to research and try new recipes instead.

Here is my favorite recipe for healthy, protein smoothies:

  • 6-7 frozen strawberries or any frozen fruit
  • 3-4 tablespoons organic french vanilla yogurt, homemade yogurt, or kefir (or coconut milk yogurt for no dairy)
  • tiny bit of raw honey, or teaspoon of sucanat if you need a sweetener
  • half a chilled banana
  • a few gulps of cartoned egg whites or raw egg whites if you have fresh, farm raised eggs
  • a tablespoon or so of organic coconut oil
Then I blend until it is all smooth and yummy-fied.
They’re so good, GREAT for you, and packed full of protein from the egg whites and yogurt. These smoothies are great in popsicle forms for “special frozen treats,” as they are called at our house.

5 Days of Homeschool Essentials {day 1}: Planning

Join me in the next five days for a great series from The Old Schoolhouse Review Crew.

I am going to begin my series of posts with my #1 homeschooling essential:

planning time.

clock

I know, it seems obvious.  But honestly it can be hard to find time to plan school when you are submerged in laundry, dishes, diapers, and dinners all day long.  There is very little flying by the seat of your pants when homeschooling.  Because I have my oldest and then a 16 month old toddler running around, I need things to be orderly and put together before we begin each day.  It allows us to have the most fun and optimize our time as a family.

To successfully homeschool, manage a home, and include very important quality time with your spouse, planning ahead is essential.

Some homeschooling mamas {and papas} schedule a once or twice a year retreat.  They go for a weekend and do all their planning, find curricula, and decide on goals for their children’s school year.  That is probably a very practical idea, especially if your have older children to homeschool.

For me, it means tentatively writing out goals for the year, then planning for the month, and each week (Sunday nights) printing off and writing out all our activities.   My oldest is in preschool, but doing some kindergarten work.  How you plan for your homeschool may look completely different than how other plan.

How do you plan your family’s homeschool?  What is your #1 tip for planning your year?

DIY Homemade Taco Seasoning {with Marriage and Menu Monday Link Up}

Welcome to my first linkup for Marriage and Menu Mondays!  This week I want to share a great recipe with you all.

taco seasoning

We love tacos, mexican crockpot chicken, and chicken quesadillas at our house.  A few years ago, I started making our taco seasoning.  Store bought seasoning contain lots of additives and some nasty preservatives.  Not to mention, the funky after taste?  What’s up with that?

Here is a super easy alternative that you can make up in bulk, or just as you are cooking dinner.  {Though I recommend making a large batch and storing in a pretty mason jar}

Homemade Taco Seasoning {DIY}

    • 1Tbsp of chilli powder
    • 1 1/2 tsp smoky ground cumin
    • 1/2 tsp oregano
    • 1 tsp sweet paprika {or regular paprika will be fine}
    • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
    • 1/4 tsp minced dried onion or onion powder {I use minced}
    • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
    • 1 tsp real Himalayan salt
    • black pepper to taste

This recipe doesn’t make much.  I started out making it each time I needed it, but now I make it in bulk & keep it in a wide mouth mason jar in my spice cabinet.  {looks like it is time to make some more!}

Homemade taco seasoning is healthier, cheaper, and just as easy as store bought.

Enjoy the Marriage and Menu Monday link up this week- Be blessed friends!

Just thinking … But need to be doing.

Tonight, I am just sorta writing to empty my brain.

JTom is sleeping, and so are the children, so … Here I am.  🙂

Lucky you! Haha

I’m blogging from my ipad, (which is more difficult that you may think) because my computer is in our room, where JTom is sleeping… And it is a lap top.  But it is an old laptop (well, in laptop years anyway…) pushing 5 years old.  And the battery doesnt
work.  And the plug comes loose when I move it around too much, so I tend to leave it sitting where it’s at, vs losing all my work when the cord comes undone.

And I dont want to disturb the hubby, so I’m blogging from my ipad.

But I should be making out activity plans and ideas for the next few months for the kids and I.  I dont make plans that I feel I have to stick to or the world ends, if we get to them great.  If we dont, we dont.  But either way I feel better starting our day with intention, than just flying by the seat of my pants.

Because when you have two littles, every minute counts.  And when you haven’t planned and prepped, it really takes tons of time away from the quality time we are trying to enjoy with them …

Every 12, or 5, or 2 minutes add up to a lot of time throughout the day.

So, I guess that is my thought for tonight.

I should get off here and go plan some fun activities, crafts, and lessons for my sweet babies!

Hrm… I need the computer for that.  Ha. Lovely.

Snoring … And Taste Buds

I love him. He is really the love of my life, the man God meant for me to marry and father my babies.

But he is sick, with a sinus infection.

And he is snoring.

*sigh*

After traveling for the last 2.5 days, sleeping in a horrible motel, and then having his flight from Cleveland to Detroit cancelled, he made it home safely at 2am this morning.

Sick.

I rang up my friend and told her about it and how I was getting no sleep because of him snoring. I am aware he does have a sinus infection now, however, but he’s not the quietest sleeper at the best of times! She said that her husband has used specialized Masks to help reduce his snoring. She also said that they had a lot of health benefits in general, so long story short and I’ve bought him one… fingers crossed it works. In the meantime, I have been cooking a storm in the kitchen to try and cheer him up and give him some healthy ‘sickness reducing’ food. So, tonight I made him fresh green beans, and sweet potatoes to go along with the GIMORMIS steaks I got on sale the other day.

Followed by freshly ground, whole wheat, refined ingredient FREE, peanut butter cookies.

And he couldn’t taste any of it. Haha

But it was worth the effort and showed him I love him and appreciate him…

Thankfully, the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, not his tastebuds. And his belly is full now, even if he couldn’t taste any of it. 🙂
