37 Weeks-Full Term (and update on J.Tom)

37 weeks (not a good quality, taken with phone)

We are officially full term and if baby were to come now, everything would be fine.  Well, except that J.Tom is having surgery (hopefully this week) and we will need 2 weeks of recovery before he can drive or lift anything.  He has been down since July 24, so 2 full weeks now, and the epidural steroid shot did nothing… The nerves being pressed by the ruptured discs (there are 2) are “unprotected” nerves, so it could cause permanent damage if we don’t get them out.  We will call and schedule the pre-op stuff tomorrow, and hopefully have surgery Tues or Wed so he can get back to living life.  It is not a huge procedure, but they will put him under.

I go to the doctor tomorrow morning for our 37 week checkup.  Hopefully we will have some progress going, but if not I have decided I am not worrying about it.  I am just going to walk and she will come when she comes… I guess.  I have noticed changes, like when I lay down my chest is not as heavy and it is easier to breathe, so maybe she has settled downward some more.  Also, my skin is getting oily again, like it did that first month of my pregnancy (which is one reason I knew something was up..).  Hopefully that means everything is just around the corner (of course with only 3 weeks left it has to be “just around the corner,” huh?)  I am still shooting for the 26th…

My plans for the next few weeks have changed; due to J.Tom’s doctor apts and surgery I will probably wait to get my hair done, pedicure, and massage until next week or LATE this week.  We got our Pack n Play ordered and set up in the living room; the way our house is laid out, it will be easier to have that in the front of the house and the small bassinet in the bedroom.  I don’t mind laying her down on the couch for naps and things, but it’s just we have the dogs and the cat (which shed..), and for a while I think I will be uncomfortable putting her where they are used to laying.  I keep the furniture clean, but still.  If you know me, you know my up-tightnesses (that’s not a word, is it?) about certain things.  I know people will think I am overly obsessive about things, but to each their own, right?  We also have the nursery finished, including the changing pad (THANK YOU Mom), organized closet, and cushions on the rocker.  I have some pics I will post at the bottom of this blog.

One week from today is the shower my girlfriends are throwing for Lexie!  I cannot wait, because I have not seen them since the beginning of this summer (which is way too long).  I am very excited for them because they are either interning or got their first teaching jobs!  YAY

Oh, and a random thought… has anyone else noticed all these nasty little caterpillars that are EVERYWHERE?!  Apparently they hatched all at once the other day, and if you look down it looks like the ground is moving because there are so many crawling around… that is just kinda icky.

Bucket Aunt Courtney painted and decorated to match Lexie’s bedding
Diaper Bag
Picture that Aunt Courtney made-she is so talented!
Aunt Court made some wipe holders
One of my favorite blankets!  It is beautiful and SO soft.

    Meghan,
You can not be too over protective or anal. Do not let people make you feel bad about any of the choices you make with Lexie. Jeff keeps asking me if I’m going to turn into uber-biotch with Kate like I was with Claire and I just tell him probably. I wouldn’t let her stay with anyone, but my mom forever and definitely wouldn’t let anyone drive her in the car!! I was SO ANAL!!…and probably will be the same way this time:) You have to do what makes you feel best and what you are most comfortable with :)–Rachelle
