Well, I am oficially a crunchy mama … No, it’s not a mama who is so exhausted and busy she is unable to bathe all the baby funk off her body.  According to Urban Dictionary, it is this:

1. crunchy mama

Mother who supports homebirth, breastfeeding, baby wearing, cloth diapering, co-sleeping, gentle discipline, etc. One who questions established medical authority; tends to be vegetarian and/or prepare all-organic foods.

Yep.  That’s me.  There are two things I don’t DO, but do support; those are co-sleeping and preparing organic foods.  I wish I could afford all organic foods, I know that would be SO much better for my family.  But it’s so costly, and on a tight budget and one income … not exactly something we find *most* important right now.  It is something I would like to do in the future though.  The co-sleeping is a great thing for some, but is just not for us.  I do understand the benefits of co-sleeping, but I also believe in the benefits of an independent sleeper.  =)

If you have had a single conversation with me about health, children, or politics (eek) you know I fully question “established medical authority.”  I think as individuals, doctors generally have our best interests in mind; I also know that they get paid by pharmaceutical companies when a certain percentage of their patients have been vaccinated, or prescribed certain medications.  Hence, why they push both of the latter.
