Well, I have been incredibly busy.  We were off for Spring Break last week, but Lexie and I went to Memphis for a visit with my family.  J.Tom went on a fishing trip to L.A.  I am almost done with school!!!!  only 4.5 weeks left, I cannot believe it.  My last day will be May 6, and I graduate May 13, WOO HOO!!  I still have SO much to do though.  =/

So, Lexie has learned so much this last month! In her 6th month of life she has: cut two teeth and is working on at least one more, sat up on her own, learned to bend and reach while sitting, can now roll from her back to her tummy (she’s been rolling from tummy to back since 2 months old!), started babbling and saying daddadadadada in her babbles, FAKE crying and coughing, and has learned to dance.  Yes, she can dance.  As seen in the video below:

She is a little stinker; she will now cry just to get your attention and when you say “Lexie!” in a disapproving tone, she laughs.  She also blows raspberries at you when SHE disapproves of something.  For instance while nursing, if she is done-raspberry.  Tired of sitting in her bumbo seat while mama cooks or prepares her bottle-raspberry.  Doesn’t want to nap although she is exhausted- raspberries… and her favorite-done eating her veggies?  Let’s blow raspberries and therefore, our veggies ALL over mama, the floor and counter.  Fun times.  There is a lot of spit flying around our house these days, but it will all make good memories.

Also, I am not sure I have mentioned to everyone, Lexie modeled last Tuesday!  She was a subject in a professional photographer’s class.  A photography studio here in town needed a 6-9 month old to model in a class for them.  They have been in business for 30+ years here in town and have a good reputation, so I felt comfortable letting her do it.  But anyways, so they go to church at her church-daycare; they came in and asked to see the babies in her age group and she was highly qualified, and precious, of course.  =)  So, anyways I have also entered her into a baby photo contest for Avon, per my MaJean (grandma) who is a rep for them.  She thinks Lexie is the “cutest of the cute.”  Who knows, maybe she will get in the top 25?  Maybe not..  Just FYI, I do not plan on putting her in pageants and things.  But this kind of stuff is fun, and innocent.  Plus winning stuff and getting free professional pics is pretty awesome too.

We will get the professional pics they took of her last week, sometime tomorrow or the next day. It was so cute; they put her in this big antique bowl (naky of course) with pearls, antique lacy hats, flowers and stuff.  She was so good!!  We also got some in a tutu.  I am glad they aren’t pics like everyone is doing, with the leg warmers, headbands, etc.  They are a little different..

Anyways, gotta get to bed.  Hopefully I can write again soon!!

Lots of new pics and a video!

As you can imagine, we have been very busy. Last week, Lexie got her 6 month shots-she did not shed a tear! She just sat there!! I did notice that this time the spot where she got the shot bruised and was/is really hard and swollen some. They say this is normal; she has never had that happen before. She is 19.3 lbs (not much weight gain) and 28″ long! She is also rolling from her back to her belly, and rolls herself over to sleep on her tummy sometimes, but not much. We are working on tummy time still, she is not really a fan of pushing herself up yet. But she will move around in circles on her belly by using her legs. It is kinda funny. She spends longer amounts of time awake during the day, and really enjoys her exersaucer more now than she did before.

She is absolutely infatuated with Stitch, as you can see from the video. They are pretty cute together. She can sit up for as long as you leave her now, and she somehow manage to spin around; I have not witnessed it yet because she does it when I leave her alone (while I usually clean) and when I come back she will be facing the opposite direction. We also eat A LOT now. She is taking 2 big scoops of oatmeal and can have pretty much anything to eat that comes in baby food. I made mashed sweet potatoes with bananas and orange the other night (YUM!) and we gave her a bite. She LOVED them. So we may become more adventurous with our foods soon.
We have started our garden; when I graduate in May I am going to start making her baby food myself, from the garden. I will still have to buy some of it, but I think it will be nice for her to have fresh, pesticide-free veggies from her own garden! The other day she stayed outside on the blanket with a few toys while J.Tom and i planted carrots, lettuce, and a few more things I think. We also got our Rosemary and Cilantro planted. Lexie loves to be outside! We went downtown this weekend and walked/shopped. We stopped at the Arlington Hotel for some drinks and Lexie loved being around all the people (as usual). She was super busy saying hi to everyone. Also, we got a new bed! YAY We decided to go ahead and get a king size bed; we needed a new mattress anyways. We decided on a memory foam. We almost got a walmart mattress after looking at the good reviews, but we love our memory foam! Lexie likes it too; it is big enough for all of us to play and laugh, so she thinks that is great.

Having a big time squealing
laughing (look at my teeth!)
I know something you don’t know!
Aaaa! hahahahaha!

On our outing downtown Saturday
On the patio at the Arlington

oooh, really?

Lexie-17 weeks

Lexie will be 17 weeks old on Friday, and will be 4 months old next Monday.  This means she is growing up too fast.  =(
And Ms. Lexie Lou has definitely been hitting developmental milestones lately!

In the past 2 weeks she has:

  • discovered her voice AKA shrieks at the top of her lungs for fun while playing or fussing
  • started stepping and bouncing while standing
  • talks/babbles while fussing (which makes me feel so guilty), instead of just crying
  • fake coughs and then smiles/laughs at you if you respond, which we always do, because what if she is choking?!
  • started really cutting TWO teeth- her front bottom gums are puffy on the side where her tongue is (does that make sense?) and they’re white.

Oh, and today we go to school to visit; tomorrow she stays for half a day!  =/  I don’t want to tell them how to do their jobs, because I know they are perfectly capable, sweet ladies.  But I think they need to know that Lexie is super special and should be given special treatment!  =)  haha  jk  I know she will be fine and I don’t need her to become more rotten than she already is.  But, it is me I am worried about.  I think about like, what if they don’t mix her cereal the way she likes it or don’t keep her upright 30 minutes after she eats to help with the reflux and gas?  Or if they let her hands get all in her oatmeal and then all over her clothes (that one is kinda dumb…) or if they don’t play with her while changing her diaper-that is her FAVORITE time to play!! … these things make me sad.  I know I will be so busy during the day at school I won’t really have a chance to think about her being there, too much anyway.  Plus, my saint of a  mother in law is going to go check on her for me that first week, since J.Tom is not allowed to drive that far yet.

J.Tom and I watched her sleeping last night and it was hilarious!  I tried to get a video, but once I did she stopped.  She fusses and kicks her legs (which are swaddled) and rolls around like crazy!  It is hilarious.  She kicks her legs so hard she comes off the mattress a bit and bounces!!  Very cute.

For Christmas, we surprised my family by going home to Memphis!  I wasn’t going to go originally, because I didn’t want to drive by myself with Lexie.  But she slept the entire time, both ways!  She is such a good girl.  Some people were saying it would take me forever to get there because of her being so young, but I guess she showed them.  =)  Anyways, we had a wonderful time in Memphis, I was so home sick!  I had not been home since I think I was 6 or 7 months pregnant, so it had been about 6months.  I am used to going home at least once every other month or so.  We saw my Memaw (who Lexie is named after) and all of my Dad’s family and we stayed with my Granny and Grandpa.  We visited my mom’s house and helped her get ready for her wedding and even had time to go by and see some of my friends (which I rarely get to do when I go home).  It was really a wonderful time!
