Baby Summary Weeks 35-36

Max hit the 37 week mark yesterday, so this is a post for the last two weeks of his life.

To say Max ha started eating is an understatement.  The boy is devouring finger foods.  Everything from dried blueberries and apples to sausage and sauerkraut!  He ate the sauerkraut like it was running away from him!  This weekend he enjoyed my cucumber and tomato salad in oil and vinegar … with garlic!  We still do pureed foods just because sometimes I don’t have a meal made that doesn’t have dairy in it, but he is eating a LOT more finger foods.  I can’t wait for him to try watermelon and cantaloupe this summer.

We still only have two teeth, but I think he is working on the top two.  They’re a little white but not puffy yet. He has been napping great!  Most days are 2 1.5 hour naps, sometimes a cat nap at 4:30 if he is really tired.  But we usually just do early bedtime at 6:30pm instead.

Crawling … well, he is moving about 2 feet at a time before he falls on his belly and decides to roll over.  So yes, he is crawling, but not for long distances.  He rolls and scoots around a LOT more than he does crawl.  **EDIT: he crawled all the way across the living room floor today!  I know, it’s a 37 week update, but had to add it!  YAY MAX!**

He enjoys being outside, and playing in the water.  We have had beautiful, warm weather as of late.  So Mama has been laying out while the kids play.  He sits in the baby blow up bath tub and Lexie plays in her kiddie pool.  Speaking of which, they are finishing our fence!  Woo hoo!  I am so excited.  It should be complete tomorrow morning.  They did most of it today.  Lexie is so excited, she has been waiting on her fence for a very long 3 months.

Helping mama make the salad …

Last weekend was Mother’s day; we went to church at the Methodist church (which I liked a lot, surprisingly, coming from a full gospel girl.   It was really homey).  JTom got me a bread maker for Mother’s day- woo hoo!  We have already used it several times and LOVE it.  way better than doing it by hand, any day.

This past weekend we stayed home and worked around the house.  JTom and Lexie got the garden in and JTom got the sprinklers set up in the flower bed.  He cut into the sprinkler system and put little sprayers in the flower beds.  They’re really cute.  Our garden this year is just: tomatoes (roma, big beef, early girl, burly boys, and cherry), red and green bell peppers, cucumbers, zucchini, and butternut squash. We put the bed in on the south side of the house, where they dug out for flower beds.  It’s the perfect spot, and J.Tom may cut in some sprayers for the garden as well.  I sure hope so.

I got some petunias for the back porch and filled the hanging baskets for the front, like I do every year.  Lexie and I planted some giant impatience in a big pot for the front porch; they smell SO good.  (I love having a front door that we use to come into the house)

JTom also got some new burners for the inside of his grill, so we can get back to grilling again soon.

Overall it has been a low key couple of weeks.  Some how things have seemed really busy, but in all honesty we haven’t been super busy.

How have you spent your last few weeks?  Anything exciting happening?

9.5 months old

Well, Lexie has hit the 9 month old mark.. =( 3 more months and she will be an entire year old. This makes me sad, it is flying by! However, I know I am blessed because I will be staying home with her, so I won’t miss a beat. We get to see J.Tom at lunch most days and it is just wonderful!

I have a few houses I am cleaning regularly for a little extra income; it gives me something to do and allows Lexie the socialization she needs outside the house with other kids. Finding means of income whilst you have young ones at home can be a challenge so this is great for me, but I know of some moms that do blogging on the side and even invest in Easyjet shares for some extra income. Right now my precious friend Whitney and her 2 boys play with Lexie on Tuesdays and Thursdays-they have GREAT fun! Lexie just loves Mason and Maddex, and of course Ms. Whitney.

A few days before her 9 month birthday, she started crawling! She is also the happiest baby ever, and I know they don’t come any more precious than her. Everyone compliments on how good and sweet she is; I know we probably won’t be so lucky the next time around! haha

We go swimming at the condos down the road.
At 9 months her speaking vocabulary consists of: Dada, (sometimes mama, but rarely), up, and the newest one is cat. She is OBSESSED with poor Missy Cat, whom of course is terrified of Lexie! haha She lets her come up on the bed and pet her, but Missy doesn’t hang around too long… Lexie’s signing vocabulary consists of: milk, eat, and once or twice she has used please, but I not sure it was for real.

We put up a baby gate to block the stairs, and the house is pretty baby-proof for now. There are a few nice things on tables, but I have taught her “no” about one of the tables and she avoids it most of the time. She can’t yet reach the stuff on the other table, but when she tries I tell her “no.” She is pulling up on everything! What is so funny is she is so determined; she will let go of whatever she is holding onto to see if she can stand on her own-which she can! And for pretty long periods of time. She gets so excited about it she laughs and claps. Pretty cute. She is also trying to stand up on her own from the ground; she gets flat footed and in a leap frog position and pushes up from her hands. She was successful once yesterday but immediately went back down on her hands. At least she is catching herself! She loves to wear her walking shoes, and she stands much better when she wears them.

I remember as a kid I alwasy played under my mom’s ironing board, and she would get onto me, because underneath it had these holes all in it, and the fabric kinda poked through. It was a green board with a pink, homemade cover of some kind; I loved poking the holes. I also played under the table, and in the clothes racks at stores.. Mom and I were talking and I think all kids like to play under stuff-hence forts made from chairs and sheets. Lexie loves to play under things too. She gets under her highchair, the dinner table, and MY IRONING BOARD and plays for long periods of time. It is pretty funny. But what she really enjoys is taking the iron baby gate (with a door built in) and shaking it back and forth-that would of course be her favorite. And although she is really too big for her exersaucer, she likes to get in it and act crazy shaking and jumping. It creates lots of noise and good fun!
Yummy blueberries

I am still making her baby food, speaking of which I need to start a new batch. She has started eating some more finger foods. On top of her love for avocados, she now enjoys fresh blueberries! I just tear them in half and she gobbles them right up. I have given her a little shredded chicken and she liked it ok, but didn’t think it was all that special. Right this minute she is in her bed playing/whining because she doesn’t want to nap… but she is so tired!

Her schedule is still a 4 hour schedule, but I think she is trying to stretch it a little again. She is so active and so she stays entertained longer and doesn’t poop out as fast. But when she gets sleepy, it is super tired, so that is good. Sometimes she will play and then lay herself back down for a nap. Sometimes I have to go put her back down and pat her a minute. It just depends on the day really.

Overall she is just a perfect baby! Wednesday we got to the dr for her 9 month checkup and shots =( I am anxious to see how tall she is. I am pretty sure she is about 23 lbs, but don’t have any idea how long.

Are you talkin’ to me?

I can get it, I can get it!

Here… Puppy puppy!

Brushing her teeth-we’ve been doing this for months, but now she can do it herself!

Water and Other Adventures

As you will see from the pictures, I got Lexie in the water Monday. J.Tom and I went fishing Monday morning and caught a mess of huge bream. Then, Lexie and I laid out and Lou played in her bathtub which is doubling as a pool. I am trying to get us in the condo pool at the condos across the street-J.Tom’s company owns a few condos in there as so do Parc Clematis, and many of the employees. I have always thought about how cool it would be to live in a condo! It wasn’t until a friend of mine recommended I did some more research to learn more about what it takes to be able to afford property like this that I have made it my mission to one day earn enough and be able to call a condo home. That would be the dream.

After I came across the name Eddie Yan and the brentwood condos on his site, this is where I feel my love for this sort of accommodation began. Some that I have seen look amazing and whoever can afford a place like this is so lucky. A friend of mine was lucky enough to get one of those amazing San Diego downtown apartments, she said she completely loved it. I wanted to go to visit her and see it but haven’t really had the time. Maybe one day! We will see.

I have him working on that today. =)

Well, so far I have one good job that is bi weekly… I have another that emailed me but needs to wait until next week when they get back from a minor family crisis. Hopefully that goes through. This afternoon we are going to go to a few condos and ask to leave the brochure in their office. Then we will also drop them off at like the tanning bed and other places. We also have to finish my neighborhood (there are like 6 houses I didn’t get to) and then we may go walk around another neighborhood and try. If i can get 4 more jobs, we will be good!

loves the ball pit
We are LOVING our time at home. It is just wonderful, and busy. I don’t sit down for very long most days. Lexie is now mobile-she is crawling on one foot and a knee. Surprisingly, she is pretty fast and I have to watch her. This has really motivated me to keep my house picked up a little better! If it isn’t out/down she can’t get into it. I have all the plugs plugged, but we need baby proof stuff for the cabinets and one more baby gate where the 2 steps are from the the kitchen to the entry way. What is really funny is she tries to stand up from her hands and feet, with her bottom in the air. (Think Moby walking like a bear in The Jungle Book.) But what is WONDERFUL, is she can now go from her tummy to her bottom all on her own. So each time she plops on her belly, she is able to get up on her own and no longer cries for assistance.

She is saying “dada” ALL THE TIME NOW! UH. No “mamas” just icky ole daddy.. and she knows what she is saying. Now sometimes she will use it for Stitch too, or just in babbling. but when she is searching for or see J.Tom, it is “Dada” for a reason.

Mmmm
Apparently, her hair is red? In the house it looks more blonde but in every single picture we take she looks like a strawberry blonde. In hopes of darkening her skin, I soaked her in sunscreen and then places her pool in the sun for a few minutes. Nothing but white. She def got the Wright skin.. =( Now, don’t get me wrong, I AM FINE WITH THAT. What stinks is that she will forever have to worry about getting burned and skin cancer, something most people in my family have never been concerned with.

Right this moment she is trying to pull up on the couch, which is too tall for her… as is every other piece o furniture in here. She is so busy and plays so well by herself!

On Tuesday and Thursday of each week during the summer she is going to my friend Whitney’s house (while I clean houses… hopefully). She has two boys that are 3 & 4 and LOVE Lexie. Of course she loves them too; she really enjoys other kids and in being at home I don’t want to take that from her so I am glad this all worked out. If i were home 5 days a week, we would still go to the library and go to mommy and me activities with other kids. It isn’t fair not to socialize them… Plus I need to get out and socialize a little bit or I become a super hermit.

And as i say all of that, she just crawled on both knees… so it won’t be long and she will be doing that all the time. Possibly by the end of the day! haha

“Now why’d you have to go and do that?”
