Baby Prep {Simple Woman’s Daybook #25}

Outside my Window …
The sun is coming up over the trees, it is a little cloudy, and so nice and cool out!

I am thinking…
… J.Tom was right; the coffee is weak this morning.  Not. Good.

I am thankful…
That we got a new coffee pot.  The other one was starting to go on the fritz and you never knew what your coffee was going to taste like!

In the kitchen…
There is half a watermelon on the counter, water kefir brewing, and J.Tom’s breakfast plate on the counter.

I am wearing…
My pajamas.

I am creating…
A blanket for baby #4

Crocheting baby blanket for #4

I am going…
to Costco, the library, and the doctor this afternoon, so I am really going to try to relax and just do school stuff with the kids all morning.

I am wondering…
what this baby will look like … all my others look so different from each other  when they are born, and each one has been darker (skin and hair) than the one before him/her.

I am reading…
a crochet pattern and a few Bible journaling things.

I am hoping…
we get some nice rain and it cools off for a while!

I am looking forward to…
the baby getting here and spending time with all FOUR kids and J.Tom for several days, just us.

I am learning…
you really can’t depend on other people to follow through.

Around the house…
not much is happening.  Yesterday was cleaning day, so it’s clean, i have a list of things to get done for baby (mostly cooking).

A favorite quote for today…

Keep Calm ...

One of my favorite things…
well, right now I would say journaling, crocheting, laying in the sun, and chillin’ with my babies.  But that’s more than one thing.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Run errands today, rest tomorrow, hopefully butcher some meat chickens, and get the kids packed to go to Arkansas with their daddy.  Then freezer cook and MAYBE work on potty training Ila.

A peek into my day…
No pics today- just relaxing outside with the kids this morning, taking naps, and running errands.

Summer is Early {Simple Woman’s Daybook 24}

Outside my Window …
It is sunny and hot; the grass is cut, and the yard is actually picked up from all the kids random things they tote outside.

I am thinking…
In 3 minutes I have to get everyone up from nap.

I am thankful…
For the sun, but not so much the 95 degree heat at the beginning of June!
And these sweet babies and their love of animals.
Back yard-Peek Into My Day

In the kitchen…
There is water kefir and kombucha on the counter, eggs in a basket, and a pile of dishes in the sink I still haven’t done.  Oops!

I am wearing…
shorts and a maternity tank

I am creating…
nothin right now

I am going…
to get everyone up, do the dishes, and then get them set up in the pool for the afternoon.

I am wondering…
When I will start having braxton hicks contractions … almost 35 weeks and haven’t really had any this time. With every other pregnancy they started around week 24.

I am reading…
the same raising boy books as last time I posted, and a few pregnancy books

I am hoping…
This baby decides to stay in until her due date!

I am looking forward to…
the chicken and potatoes my sweet husband is bringing me.  Pregnancy cravings are killer.

I am learning…
There is never a moment when everything is done.

Around the house…
The dog is having a heavy shed.  We live on dirt roads-my house is full of dog hair and dust. Ugh.

A favorite quote for today…

One of my favorite things…
My yoga bolster– how did I survive 3 pregnancies without it?  It provides the best sleep I have ever had.  Looks like this: (click image for link)

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Well, it’s the weekend.  I plan to vacuum, chill and cook dinner, and watch the kids play in the yard today.  Then church tomorrow, naps, and farm chores.

Simple Woman {Daybook}

Accomplish ALL The Things {Simple Woman’s Daybook 23}

Outside my Window …
It is gray, cloudy, and the sun isn’t up. We have had rain for 3 days now! YAY

I am thinking…
About all the things I need to start fitting into my day: more floor time with Ila, more violin practice with Lexie, more ironing of J.Tom’s clothes (one day I will be able to afford the cleaners!), more walking, more pregnancy exercises … oh. And more menu planning (really not doing good menu planning), and more blog planning.

How’s that for thinking 😉

I am thankful…
That my husband woke up before me to make coffee and feed the baby cows. =) We have started weaning them from their milk (a little late), and boy are they pushy! We don’t let them boss us, but the taller brown one sure tries.

In the kitchen…
There is bone broth that needs to be jarred up and put in the freezer.

And coffee!

I am wearing…
A maternity dress- it is one of the really old ones from my pregnancy with Lexie. It doesn’t really fit well, but they make great house dresses now, and are comfy to sleep in. Old Navy, $10 6 years ago.

I am creating…
probably a mess of everything. I have so much to do; today is cleaning day, but I also have to work in the basement (ugh) and get ironing done. I have dresses to finish sewing before baby comes, I want to put together a small unit study for the kids on Little house in the Big Woods, because we are about to finish that, and then we are going to grow crystals. That’s creating stuff, right? =/

I am going…
I need to go to Costco this afternoon; if the Mister takes a good nap we will go get groceries and then meet the daddy for dinner out.

Did I mention I have done a really bad job about menu planning lately?

I am wondering…
If it will continue to rain and fill the pond up. We thought we had a leak … thankfully the hubby had access to a few tons of kitty litter so we spread that out where we thought the leak may be. However, it may in fact just be that we didn’t have a wet winter and our runoff is blocked a bit, and there is a huge pond next door that has to fill before ours will.

Hoping the hard heavy rain we got last night started the process. We have had slow, steady rain for 2-3 days now. It has been wonderful!
I am reading…
Oh gosh! Okay, so I have a few books on my shelf, but have only really started one. The first two are homemaking books from the library, though I think I would like to own both. and the rest are books about raising boys. Cause … my little Mister is the only Mister and I am a girl. Therefore I really know very little about raising boys.

I am hoping…
really more like praying God helps me find me the patience and energy today to accomplish all the things!

I am looking forward to…
Not having a mile long to do list! It seems to come in phases, sometimes I feel like I have it all done and everything is great (obviously, it probably really isn’t). And then sometimes I am SO. Far. Behind. Like now. =)

I am learning…
That my Mister needs freedoms, and boundaries, and more reinforcement of consequences when he breaks those boundaries.

Also, that I have let a LOT of time get by me before this baby gets here! I am 27.5 weeks already, and we have a TON of rather big things to do.

Around the house…
dusting. vacuuming. switching season clothes, packing kids clothes that are too small to save for baby, and I am always decluttering. Which right now I think we are in a pretty good place with that. Minus all these girl clothes I have to hold on to! I know I should throw them away, but I just can’t do it. We’re throwing enough away though, leaving us with a lot of space now. If anyone else needs to declutter their home, it might be worth contacting a company like 1300 Rubbish to make sure they can take the rubbish away from your home. That always makes the job easier.

A favorite quote for today…

Accomplish All the Things

One of my favorite things…
that Ila has FINALLY this week, started saying more words: red car, Lexie, mister, bear, more animal sounds, hair bow, and she pretends to read the words in books by speaking her own little baby Japanese. It is really cute.

I also LOVE that Lexie begs to take Ila outside while I am prepping meals, switching out laundry, etc. I do let her take her on the porch or to the back concrete and Lexie just loves it. So does mister- he drives Ila around in the back of his little pick up truck. She is so loved.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
I think ALL the lists above should cover this one. =)

A peek into my day…
This was the other day

Out My Widow ... Life on a Farm

Simple Woman {Daybook}

The Beginning of Spring {simple woman’s daybook 22}

Outside my Window …
It is dark and quiet.  Last night we had some coyotes come very close to the house; our Great Pyr was going crazy.  It will be interesting to see if they come back again tonight.

I am thinking…
I am so tired.  This time change .. *whew* I love spring, but this time change has completely messed up mine and the husband’s schedule.

I am thankful…
For my mom coming out tomorrow to see us!  She hasn’t seen the farm since it has officially been ours, not that there is much to see … but you know.  It will be a good visit.

In the kitchen…
It is CLEAN!  I cleaned today.  I also ground fresh whole wheat this morning to have on hand this week.  There are also new cabinet pulls waiting to be installed- swapping the big oak knobs for flat black.

I am wearing…
My gown and sleepy eyes.  So ready for bed!

I am creating…
I have a list of plans for my Bible journal, and am still working on the girls some more dresses.

I am going…
To the airport tomorrow, and Costco I hope.  We need fruit for the week, and some steaks!

I am wondering…
When this spring wind is going to die down some!  And when I can finally plant some flowers in my pots out front.

I am reading…
My The Old Schoolhouse Magazine- I love that thing!  And it is a great encouraging distraction while I wait on the new Sonlight catalogue to come.

I am hoping…
this week isn’t too cool and windy.  It has been so nice for a month, and now that my mom is coming, I want her to enjoy it, too.  Hopefully it will be nice, calm weather.

I am looking forward to…
this week with my mom, getting my Neon Coral Lamy fountain pen in this week!

I am learning…
the time change gets harder as you get older.  =/

Around the house…
It is clean!  I cleaned today; dusted, vacuumed, steamed floors, kids picked up their things.  We got some school reading done and overall it was a good day.

A favorite quote for today…
Spring Time Change

One of my favorite things…
SPRING, fresh air, watching the trees and flowers get buds and bloom, working in the yard with J.Tom, watching the kids be farm kids.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Get my mom from the airport, get tags for my car, and get my hair-did.

A peek into my day…

This actually happened about 10:00pm last night, but it was too perfect not to share.  I have tried every recipe everywhere for the perfect bread machine bread, that I can make dairy free.  And I found it!  Recipe to come soon!

Fridays on the Farm are Beautiful {Simple Woman’s Daybook 20}

Walking in the Woods

Walking through the woods; jumping in the dry part of the creek

Outside my Window …
The sun is just coming up over the trees in the front of the house.  The calves have full bellies and are resting in the barn, Thora is laying on the front porch being protector of all things, and it is SO beautiful and nice we will be reading on the front porch today.  We don’t usually do much school on Fridays, just because we don’t have to, but I always try to read lots of books and maybe throw in science or art- both which can be done outdoors!

I am thinking…
Oh, I hope we don’t lose the other two calves.  Yesterday we lost one; the biggest one, and healthiest LOOKING when we got them last Saturday.  However, he was the most sickly acting the last 5 days.  For two days he had some light scours we were treating as directed, and before running to the vet yesterday I went out to check him one more time, and he was gone.  =(

I am thankful…
That the kids weren’t devastated.  They were very supportive of their sad mama.  Lexie wanted to know if we could just turn it into beef.  =)  I cried; not so much because the calf was dead, but because I felt defeated, helpless, despite all our efforts and hard work.  Part of it, I know.  But I don’t like defeat….

In the kitchen…
Oh gosh!  It is a mess.  There are dishes from J.Tom breakfast, a pot that needs to be washed, and a skillet on the stove for me to cook our eggs this mornings.

I am wearing…
Pajama pants and a maternity shirt; I am running out of clothes that fit well.

I am creating…
Nothing.  I was crocheting, but with it being so warm I got out of the mood.  And I have started the girls some dresses, I should really finish those  😉

I am going…
To never take advantage of my computer again.  My hard drive died last week; and I was one saddened girl.  I can’t think on a teeny tiny screen (my phone) to pay bills, write blogs, and look up recipes.  I always go to my computer …

I am wondering…
What else I need to add to my list for the store today.

I am reading…
A new book, but can’t think of the title … I will come back and add it later. *edit- The Liars’ Club: A Memoir*

I am hoping…
These calves survive!

I am looking forward to…
The weekend- in the 70’s and sunny.  I am starting on my tan!

I am learning…
Although my life is pretty nice, life is hard.  Losing calves is hard.  Losing baby chicks is hard (not as hard as losing a calf…), getting up at 5:30 am is not as hard as getting up at 6:30am …

Around the house…
I need to vacuum.  Just ew!  (since the weather has been like spring, we have been tracking in LOTS of dirt.)

A favorite quote for today…

When Life Gets Hard ...

Something my Dad would say.  =)

One of my favorite things…
baby cow noses, watching the kids play in the dirt while the chickens free range, Ila’s BIG, ginormis, baby hugs, the sound of her saying, “Yes ma’am,” our new friendships with a beautiful family that lives very close by, watching the sun come up on the front porch.

pjs and chickens

It’s Friday Y’all!

It is Almost Christmas {Simple Woman’s Daybook 19}

Outside my Window …
It has turned cold; the sky is cloudy and misty.  My wonderful husband is cutting firewood.

I am thinking…
It is so quiet when all the babies are napping ..

I am thankful…
for weekends with my family.  My husband works a schedule that he is able to come home early on Fridays, so that is the beginning of our “family time” weekends.  They are wonderful, and I will always cherish them, I know the kids do as well!

In the kitchen…
There are packages to be returned on the counter, my big pot needs to be washed, and dinner isn’t planned!

I am wearing…
My pajama pants and an Arkansas tshirt.

I am creating…
Well, I was making a shirt for my daughter, but for the life of me cannot figure out how to make the placket .. so, moving on to the girls’ Christmas gowns!  haha

I am going…
to have a relaxed week this week, and get organized for school tonight.

I am wondering…
what I am going to cook for dinner.  Nevermind!  Hubby just said tonight we will “go to town” for errands, dinner out, and Christmas lights at the botanical gardens.  I will take it!

I am reading…
Been trying to work through my devotional!

I am hoping…
The kids nap really good so we can stay out late tonight!

I am looking forward to…
Well, tonight now!  But every day.  Every day is such a blessing with our little family.  It is so corny, and so true.  I mean, I get frustrated and lose my cool sometimes.  But mostly I am in awe of them.

I am learning…
How much fun my 3 year old son is.  Honestly, his first years was tough because he felt so bad, his second year was tough because he was … well, 2.  But this year so far (3 years old) has been amazing and fun!

Around the house…
The Christmas tree stands without lights or decorations because I keep forgetting the lights.  The ones from last year are all dead; only the mantle is decorated.  There are Christmas gift boxes from all the family piled up in my room and closets, and frankly- I am ready for it to all be over!

A favorite quote for today…

One of my favorite things…
a fire in the fire place!

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Get school ready for next week, get a few Advent activities completed, make it further into my Mom devotional

A peek into my day…
Just imagine me in my PJs with a hot cup of tea. =)

Simple Woman’s Daybook: Unpacking again … {18}

Outside my Window …
I am surrounded by our new land; it is hot, the trees are blowing in the breeze, there are hummingbirds at our feeders, the crepe myrtle (my fav) is in full bloom, the garden is still spraying out peas and tomatoes, and the barn cats are laying in the shade.

I am thinking…
How good this foot rub feels

I am thankful…
For my daughter who rubs my feet while we listen to books on tape.

In the kitchen…
There are peas to be shelled, bell peppers to be sliced and frozen, jalapenos to be pickled, and turkey and dressing thawing.

I am wearing…
my swimsuit from working in the yard and laying our for a few minutes earlier this afternoon

I am creating…
well, nothing specifically.  I am working no getting the house unpacked and in order.  The kids’ birthdays are this week, and their party is this weekend.  Some family is coming up to see us, and of course I want the house presentable.  =)

I am going…
to never find the end of the boxes ..

I am wondering…
when Lexie will be too big to rub her mama’s feet at rest time.

I am reading…
Nothing right now.

I am hoping…
to get everything done this week so I can finally get back to our regular routine.

I am looking forward to…
This whole week- the kids’ birthdays and of course their little party.

I am learning…
you have to take life one box at a time. =P

Around the house…
things are coming together.  Slowly

A favorite quote for today…

Think Outside

One of my favorite things…
Working outside in the garden or flowerbeds while the kids play outside, watching big sister pull the baby in the wagon, listening to Mister pretend as he rides big sister’s bike all around outside.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
Finish hanging curtains, get ironing done, get menu planned for weekend, get homeschool completely unpacked and in order, finish unpacking …
A peek into my day…
unpacking treasures

I finally found the box wit my hard floor vacuum head and front door cross in it!  I was so excited, I sent my husband a picture.  haha

Simple Woman’s Daybook {17}

Outside my Window …
It is cool and cloudy; we went for a walk this morning and it was SO nice!

I am thinking…
Our appraisal on the farm was last week; I am praying it comes back at purchase price so we don’t have any hold ups on the move!

I am thankful…
For my amazing husband, whom I fall more in love with every single day.

In the kitchen…
That kitchen .. nothing.  Dishes need to be done.

I am wearing…
Walking shorts and a T.  We are going back out to the farm this afternoon to pick, so I plan on just wearing my “outside” clothes for that.

I am creating…
Nothing at the moment.

I am going…
to REALLY try to wake up.  I have been so tired the last few days.

I am wondering…
When we will hear back from the appraiser.

I am reading…
A farm book, a homeschooling book for a review, and soon a homesteading book.

I am hoping…
See all the above.

I am looking forward to…
Again .. see the above.  =)

I am learning…
Patience.  I think I may never learn.

Around the house…
Tomorrow is cleaning day, so that probably says a lot about the house today.

A favorite quote for today…

I wanted to be a farmer

There has never been a truer statement.

One of my favorite things…
Watching my babies play at the farm.

A few plans for the rest of the week:
To find a source for goat’s milk to try as an alternative for the kids, visit on of the gymnastics gyms here, decide on a violin teacher,  hear back on appraisal.

A peek into my day…

Outside my Window …
The sun is setting; it is hot and I am missing those cool Nebraska evenings!

I am thinking…
Kansas is a lot hotter than Nebraska … like 15 degrees hotter, than Nebraska  =P

I am thankful…
For air conditioning and cool clothes!

In the kitchen…
The kitchen … well.  We are renting a house with a teeny tiny kitchen.  It is like [–] this big, and very hard to do much of anything in.  We are grilling a lot these days!

I am wearing…
My pjs.
I am creating…
Nothing.  I am creating nothing, because all of my creating “things” are packed.

I am going…
to be SO excited when we close on the farm!

I am wondering…
Did I mention we are buying a farm …?  Hopefully. I probably just jinxed it.  But if everything goes well (appraisal, inspections, etc), we will own a farm in August!

I am reading…
The Conversation, by Leigh A Bortins.  A leading author on all things classical education.

I am hoping…
July & August come and go quickly with very few hiccups.

I am looking forward to…
… a bigger kitchen!

I am learning…
That I miss a small town and can’t wait to get back in one!

Around the house…
boxes.  boxes.  and more boxes.

A favorite quote for today…
Boxes, boxes everywhere
I wish I could … I wish I could.
One of my favorite things…
the farm that I hope is ours soon!

A few plans for the rest of the week:
We have begun our homeschool for the year, slowly and loosely.  We won’t begin science until we move, i think.  But we are working through most everything else, veeeeeeery slowly.  I don’t have my laminator, printer, or hole punches, so what I can do is limited … man you don’t know how much you need those things til they’re taped away in boxes somewhere.

Outside my Window …
The kids are playing in the mud while I prep dinner .. and blog.  ha

I am thinking…
I am ready for this chest cold to be gone.  I really should use on myself the remedies I use for everyone else in the family.  I tend to forget to take care of ME.

I am thankful…
For the cool day today.

In the kitchen…
I am prepping dinner and there is watermelon sliced on a large cutting board from snack.

I am wearing…
yoga pants and a tshirt from the Women Can Run race in Arkansas.

I am creating…
dinner?

I am going…
to lay down and rest after this while the kids play.  I feel awful!

I am wondering…
How much longer the cold is going to last, and if I can make it to moving day!  (5 days!)

I am reading…
Nothing right  now; too much happening to read.

I am hoping…
The weather is nice enough for the kids to play outside while I continue to pack this weekend.

I am looking forward to…
